Hour One – Never Alone: Foxtales

Never Alone, by Upper One Games, is a game whose art style, narrative, and even the means by which that narrative is delivered are all heavily influenced by traditional Native American culture. It’s follow up DLC, Foxtales, continues that legacy.

This game is special. There’s something here that many games, and the studios that make them, aren’t doing. It’s not a safe bet. It’s touching, full of culture, and rooted in something that many of us, especially in the U.S., don’t think about often, if ever.

But it’s also not in your face, either. Not preachy. Not overbearing. Instead, Upper One Games simply tries to bring to light a culture that is slowly being lost to time. Never Alone and Foxtales are a window into a culture of tradition. I’d go as far as to say that everyone owes it to themselves, and perhaps even those from which the story is conceived, to play this game.

This video has some quality issues towards the start. A lot of dropped frames. Please forgive that! Everything clears up right around the 10 minute mark.
