PlayStation Exclusive EVERYBODY’S GONE TO THE RAPTURE Gets Release Date and More

Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture, the exploration based adventure game from developer The Chinese Room, has finally received a release date. A post on the PlayStation Blog verifies that the PlayStation 4 exclusive will be released August 11, 2015.

In honor of this announcement, Sony and The Chinese Room have launch a page specifically for Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture but unlike most websites dedicated to a specific title, this site promotes player involvement, providing insight into the mysteries of the rapture.

The first post on the site, Beginning of the End, establishes the state of things. Theme and tone are set by a paragraph ending in the darkly poetic line, “Everything is still. Everybody has gone.” Reading on, the site encourages players to dive in as Sony and The Chinese Room provide lore to fans eager to get into the world and begin to unravel the mysteries of Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture.

“The answer to the mystery are all here. Over the next few weeks, we’ll be releasing exclusive game material – music tracks, screenshots, behind-the-scenes footage, development diaries, and fiction written specifically for this site – which will help orientate you to the state of emergency and prepare you for your journey into the apocalypse.”

Announced and shown at E3 in 2014, Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture was extremely well received. The game contended for “Best in Show” and “Best PlayStation Game” at IGN and place among the “Best of E3” from Gamespot. Since then, the game has received coverage at every step of production as gamers anxiously await its release.
